NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Brooklyn-based Iranian journalist who was targeted in a kidnapping plot foiled by the FBI told 1010 WINS she was “shocked” by the details included in an indictment authorities unveiled Tuesday.

Four Iranian intelligence operatives on Tuesday were charged with plotting to kidnap author and activist Masih Alinejad.

In an interview with 1010 WINS’ Brigitte Quinn on Wednesday, Alinejad said she learned about the plot eight months ago, but wasn't aware of all of the specifics included in the indictment.

“The FBI actually, they came to my house, and they told me that you’re not safe here,” the Ditmas Park resident recalled. “I was making a joke about it, saying, ‘Look, I receive daily death threats. What’s new?’”

“Then they came later, and they showed me some photos of my private life. Photos of my husband, myself, watering my flowers, my garden,” she said. “They even took a picture of my stepchildren.”

“That time they actually moved me to different safe houses, but all the details that I actually heard last night [were] new to me,” she explained. “I was shocked. I didn’t know that they were trying, actually, to take me to… Venezuela and kidnap me from there.”

“I’m not a criminal. I’m a journalist,” she added. “I’m just giving voice to voiceless people. That’s all I do.”
