NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An employee at a Lower East Side smoke-shop was shot while he confronted a trio of robbers outside of the store late Sunday, officials said.
According to police, the incident happened just after 10:30 p.m., the 35-year-old victim was inside the Orchard Smoke Shop located on Orchard Street near East Houston Street.

The thieves stole approximately $12,000 in merchandise and about $300 in cash, authorities said.
As the robbers left the store, the employee followed them outside and confronted them when he was shot in the torso and arm by one of the suspects, the NYPD said.
The suspects fled in a black sedan, cops said.
No arrests have been made and an investigation remains ongoing.
