Loaded gun found in UWS high school

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Edward A. Reynolds High School on the Upper West Side briefly went into lockdown Friday after a teacher found a loaded gun.

The teacher found the fully loaded 9mm firearm in a music room around 2 p.m.

The school called the NYPD, and officers retrieved the weapon — allowing classes to return to normal.

“Weapons of any kind have absolutely no place in our schools, and the NYPD quickly and safely recovered this item,” said a spokesperson for the Department of Education. “All protocols were followed, and we are working closely with the NYPD in their investigation.”
