NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is probing a fatal Revel scooter accident that killed a 22-year-old who lost control and was run over by an SUV in Midtown East late Sunday.

Police responded to a 911 call in connection to a man struck with severe head and body trauma at around 11:17 p.m. at First Avenue and East 48th Street, authorities said.

EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced deceased, according to police.

A preliminary investigation determined the 22-year-old — identified as Andreas Marino — was operating the Revel when he lost control traveling northbound on East 48th Street and was ejected from the scooter, police said.

Police said a 2021 Toyota Highlander traveling northbound then ran over Marino.

The 44-year-old driver remained on scene and was taken into custody with charges pending, authorities said.
