Man, 22, repeatedly shot near Yankee Stadium dies days later: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating after a 22-year-old man died two days after he was shot near Yankee Stadium last week in the Bronx, according to the NYPD.

At approximately 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, police responded to a 911 call of shots fired in the vicinity of East 164th Street and River Avenue in Concourse, officials said.

Upon arrival, officers observed Malik Bright with approximately two gunshot wounds to the back of the head, authorities said.

EMS responded and transported Bright to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead on Friday, May 13.

A preliminary investigation determined that the victim was walking past the entrance of Mullaly Park when he was struck by the gunfire, police said.

No arrests have been made in regard to this incident and the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
