NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials are investigating after a man was fatally shot in the head during a drive-by shooting Thursday night in the Bronx, according to authorities.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress at East 169th Street and Washington Avenue in Morrisania.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 37-year-old John Melville with a gunshot wound to the head in front of 1292 Washington Avenue.

According to the NYPD, Melville was standing on the corner when a gray Lexus began firing from inside the vehicle, striking him in the head.

EMS transported Melville to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
