Man, 69, killed in Brooklyn apartment blaze: police

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A 69-year-old man was killed by a fire in his Brooklyn apartment early Monday, police said.

The victim was found unconscious and unresponsive after officials responded to the apartment on Midwood Street near Utica Avenue just after 4:30 a.m.

He was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.

The Fire Marshal will determine the cause of the fire and the investigation remains ongoing.

The man's identity has not been released pending his family's notification.
