Man, 79, found pinned in car in fatal Bronx collision: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad are investigating a fatal collision that killed a 79-year-old man early Thursday, in the Bronx.

Just before 1 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a single-vehicle collision near the Cross Bronx Expressway, at the corner of Calhoun Avenue and Schley Avenue in Throgs Neck.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 79-year-old driver, with severe body trauma, pinned inside a 2004 black Dodge Avenger sedan.

Cross Bronx Expy & Schley Ave 1:11:49 AM EST

Fire Department personnel removed the man from the vehicle and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim is pending proper family notification.
