NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An 80-year-old man was robbed by a teenage thief who blinded him with a bright light and a mystery spray before choking and punching him at a Brooklyn subway station this week, police said.
The NYPD released surveillance images Tuesday of the young suspect they’re after in Sunday evening’s robbery at the A/C Euclid Avenue station at Pitkin Avenue in East New York.
The victim was waiting for a train around 7:30 p.m. when the robber came up and shined a bright light into his eyes, police said.
As the victim was disoriented, his attacker shot an unknown substance at his face and placed him in a chokehold.
The crook then grabbed the victim’s wallet from his pants pocket.
As the two of them struggled, the thief punched the victim in the chest and then fled the station with the wallet, police said.
The victim was treated at the scene and refused further medical attention.
His wallet contained ID and bank cards, according to police.
