Man beaten in robbery at Brooklyn subway station, suspect sought

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The NYPD is looking to identify a man wanted in connection to an unprovoked violent robbery inside a Brooklyn subway station last month.

A 48-year-old man was utilizing a MetroCard machine on the mezzanine of the 86th Street subway station in Bay Ridge at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, when the suspect approached him from behind, police said.

The suspect then began to punch and kick the victim in the head and body.

No words were exchanged before the incident, officials said.

The suspect proceeded to forcibly take the victim's cellphone from his person.

He then fled in an unknown direction, authorities said.

The victim was treated on scene by EMS.
