Man, 67, beaten, robbed by group after leaving East Harlem bank: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a group of suspects who violently beat and robbed a man shortly after he left a bank in East Harlem earlier this week.

Officials said the 67-year-old man was walking in front of 2148 Third Ave. at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Monday, April 4, just after he withdrew money from a nearby bank.

Four suspects approached the victim from behind and began punching him multiple times.

One of the suspects also struck the victim in the head with an unknown blunt object, the NYPD said.

The group proceeded to remove the victim's wallet containing his identification documents, a debit card, and approximately $800.

The suspects fled northbound on Third Avenue on foot.

EMS transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Metropolitan in stable condition.
