NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged with setting a spate of fires in Manhattan earlier this month, authorities said Friday.
Patrick Glynn is accused of setting nine different fires at commercial and residential properties in Manhattan between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on June 2, the FDNY said in a Facebook post.
All of the blazes “were quickly brought under control by the responding firefighters,” the department said.
“Arson is extremely reckless and shows a complete disregard for the lives and safety of others,” FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said in a statement. “The quick apprehension of the suspect exemplifies the dedication of our Fire Marshals and their mission of bringing to justice anyone who commits the act of arson in our city.”
Glynn has been charged with two counts of second-degree arson, one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief and seven counts of fifth-degree arson, the FDNY said.
His attorney information wasn’t immediately available Friday.
