
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man died in an Upper West Side apartment fire early Tuesday morning, police said.

The fire broke out around 2:40 a.m. on the fifth floor of 80 Amsterdam Ave., a 13-story building in the Amsterdam Houses at W. 63rd Street.
FDNY responded to a 911 call and extinguished the blaze, police said.
During a search of the building, an unconscious man was found in a fifth-floor apartment, according to police.
EMS transported the man to Mount Sinai West, where he was pronounced dead. He has not yet been identified.
The FDNY fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
