NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man demanded an 88-year-old woman's seat at Queens Center—and then attacked her 77-year-old son when he intervened, police said Tuesday.
The NYPD released images of the suspect they're searching for in the brazen afternoon beatdown on July 5 inside the bustling shopping mall on Queens Boulevard in Elmhurst.
The 88-year-old woman was sitting in a communal area of the mall around 3 p.m. when the man told her to get up so that he could sit down in her seat.

The woman's 71-year-old son stepped in to defend his mom, so the man viciously beat him, police said.
The son was repeatedly punched and kicked by the suspect, who eventually fled into JCPenney, according to police.

The victim suffered multiple lacerations to his face and head. He was transported by EMS to Long Island Jewish Forest Hills. His condition wasn't immediately known.
His mother was not injured in the attack.
