NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 29-year-old Queens man died three months after he was shot outside a deli in the borough, police said Thursday.

Julian Askew, of Jamaica, died Monday from injuries he suffered in an Aug. 5 shooting in the area of Waltham Street and Tuskegee Airmen Way. The shooting scene is about a mile from his home.

Officers responding to a 911 call around 1:45 a.m. found Askew in front of the deli with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition.

Askew eventually recovered and was released back home, but his condition took a turn for the worse recently, the Daily News reported.

According to the report, he was a reputed member of the Gorilla Stone Nation gang, and he served two terms in state prison for assault and attempted robbery.

Two men fled the scene of the shooting in a gray, four-door sedan. They were still being sought.
