Man faces murder charges in fatal stabbing of roommate at Staten Island home

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man is facing murder charges in the fatal stabbing of his roommate at their Staten Island home Tuesday morning, authorities said.

At approximately 8:20 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious man inside of 493 Jersey St. in the St. George neighborhood.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 37-year-old Justin Gaston in the bathroom with a stab wound to the chest.

EMS pronounced Gaston dead on scene.

Officials took 27-year-old Raiquan Becheam into custody from the location.

He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Both men lived at the location, according to police. The Staten Island Advance confirmed that they were roommates.

The investigation remains ongoing.
