Man grabs teen boy's neck on Staten Island MTA bus, steals his iPhone

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 16-year-old boy was robbed of his cellphone while on a Staten Island MTA bus last month and police are searching for the man they say is responsible.

The incident happened on Aug. 30 around 5:05 p.m. inside of an S78 bus stopped at Tompkins Avenue and Broad Street in Stapleton Heights, police said.

The thief approached the teen, grabbed him by his neck and stole his iPhone 13 cellphone from his hand before exiting the bus and fleeing the scene, according to authorities. The victim was not injured.

Cops described the suspect as being in his 20s, 5'10" tall, 150 pounds, with a medium complexion, thin build, black curly hair, last seen wearing a short sleeve black and white striped short-sleeve shirt, gray shorts and black sneakers.
