VIDEO: Man impersonating police officer among 3 spotted burglarizing Manhattan building

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are looking for a trio responsible for the burglary of a Manhattan apartment building, including one person accused of impersonating a police officer.

On Oct. 23 at 2:30 a.m., three males forced entry into an apartment building at 601 West 132nd St. in Harlem, police said.

According to cops, the trio tried to remove coins from laundry machines and forcefully took the mail from inside a mailbox.

Among the three, one of the males was seen wearing a Department of Homeless Services Police uniform shirt. That man was described by police as a 6-feet tall, 200 lbs., and was also wearing black pants, an “LA” baseball hat and light-colored shoes.

The second male is described by police as 5-feet, 8-inches tall, 180 lbs., wearing a white jacket, white pants and light-colored shoes.

The third suspect is described as 5-feet, 6-inches tall, 170 lbs. wearing a brown jacket, a striped shirt, black pants, glasses and black shoes.

Police released video of the incident, depicting their efforts trying to take coins from the laundry machines.

Police asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or on the Spanish line at 1-888-57-PISTA.
