Authorities responded to a 911 call of a 2-alarm fire at a home on 88th Avenue in Bellerose at around 6:45 a.m.

The FDNY Uniformed Firefighters Association said the fire broke out at the residence, where multiple civilians were reported trapped inside.

Upon arrival, firefighters "immediately sprang into action to extinguish the blaze," the UFA tweeted.

Officers observed a 91-year-old male, who police say was a resident of the home and later identified as Mario Yanni, unconscious and unresponsive on the first floor.

EMS responded and pronounced Yanni dead at the scene.

One person was also rescued during the blaze.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time," they added.

The Medical Examiner will determine his cause of death.
