NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Heavily armored police descended on a Brooklyn home Friday morning after getting a call about a man on the roof with an apparent rifle, sparking an hours-long standoff that eventually led to the man's surrender, police said.
Cops received a call around 5:45 a.m. about a man atop a roof at Bedford Avenue and Avenue X in Sheepshead Bay.
Responding officers found the 47-year-old man on the roof with what appeared to be a rifle, police said.

The resulting standoff led to a heavy NYPD presence, including an armored police vehicle and numerous police officers, some of them in tactical gear. Surrounding streets were shut down and people were urged to avoid the area.
The man eventually used a ladder to climb down from the roof and voluntarily surrender, police said.
Video appears to show the moment he was taken into custody after descending a staircase in front of the home as policed yelled commands at him.
No shots were fired in the standoff, and no one was injured, police said.
It remains unclear if object the man had was in fact a firearm.
No charges had been reported later Friday as the investigation continued.
