Man pulled from East River by Coast Guard dies

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man died after he was pulled from the East River off Manhattan by the U.S. Coast Guard on Thursday morning, police said.

The unidentified man was unconscious when he was retrieved from the waters near E. 34th Street and the FDR Drive around 7 a.m.

Police said the man was taken to the ferry terminal, where EMS responded and pronounced him dead at the scene.

An investigation into his death is ongoing, police said.

The medical examiner will determine how he died.
