
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A scooter rider is in critical condition after being hit by a driver making a U-turn in the Bronx early Sunday, authorities said.

A 30-year-old man was driving a Kia sedan near East 138th Street and Cypress Avenue in Mott Haven around 3:20 a.m. when he made a U-turn, police said.
While making the turn, the driver hit a man on a gas-powered scooter riding west on East 138th Street, causing him to be ejected from the scooter and onto the roadway, according to cops.
Responding EMS workers transported the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, to NYC Health and Hospitals where he is in critical condition with severe head trauma.
The driver remained on the scene and did not suffer any injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
