NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 26-year-old man was fatally shot in the head in the East Village just hours after a 25-year-old woman was gunned down nearby, about a block from Union Square, Thursday afternoon.

Police said the man was shot just before 1:35 p.m. on Avenue C and East 12th Street.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, but has since died.
His identity has not been released by police.
Cops said there is no description of the shooter and no arrests have been made at this time.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
