Man steals $2K worth of packages from West Village building Christmas tree

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man is wanted for stealing over $2,000 in gifts from underneath the tree of a residential building in Manhattan earlier this month.

The suspect entered the building at 49 Grove Street in the West Village on Dec. 9 around 8:25 p.m., authorities said.

The man stole multiple packages from around a Christmas tree in the lobby of the building, according to officials.

Inside the packages were clothing and miscellaneous items which had a value of about $2,607, cops said. No injuries were reported as a result.

The man police are searching for is described as having a dark complexion, about 45 to 55 years old with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a white and black jacket, black jeans and dark boots and a black and white and black baklava hat.
