Man threatens shooting at Queens children's hospital; arsenal found at his home: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was found with a cache of weapons and ammunition Thursday after threatening a shooting at a children’s hospital in Queens, police said.

Thomas Saxton, 34, allegedly threatened to shoot people at Cohen Children’s Medical Center on 76th Avenue in Glen Oaks.

Officers responding to a 911 call about the threats around 12:10 p.m. Thursday confronted Saxton in his car outside the hospital, according to police.

Saxton was arrested, and two loaded and unregistered “ghost guns” were recovered, police said.

A search of Saxton’s home allegedly turned up an additional cache of firearms, ammo, magazines and ballistic vests. The NYPD tweeted photos of the alleged arsenal.

Saxton was charged with six counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of ammunition, menacing, and harassment. He also faces drug charges.
