Man who robbed NJ bank of nearly $8K arrested: officials

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (1010 WINS) – Police arrested a 42-year-old man they said robbed a New Jersey bank for almost $8,000 last month, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office announced Monday.

Miguel Angeles, of Perth Amboy was arrested following a joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Middletown Police and the FBI.

Angeles was charged with armed robbery, authorities said.

On Wednesday December 28, 2022, at approximately 10:40 a.m., the Middletown Township Police responded to a report of a bank robbery at the Valley National Bank on Rt. 35 in the Kohl’s Plaza, officials said.

Upon arrival, police were informed that a masked man had entered the bank and stolen nearly $8,000 before fleeing in a silver vehicle.

Angeles remains in custody pending a detention hearing currently scheduled to take place Wednesday in Monmouth County Superior Court.
