NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police early Monday released video footage of gunfire that left a man shot and wounded in the middle of Times Square on Sunday evening, officials said.
The 21-year-old man was shot in the back at W. 45th Street and Seventh Avenue, near the Marriott Marquis, just after 5:15 p.m., according to police.
EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition and was later released.
The unidentified male gunman fled eastbound on 45th Street toward 6th Avenue, the NYPD said.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting weren't immediately known. WABC reported that the victim was a Marine visiting from upstate and that he was not the intended target.
No arrests have been reported as police search for the shooter.
The NYPD is urging people to avoid the area.
The shooting happened about a block away from where two women and a 4-year-old girl, all bystanders, were shot in May.
The three victims in that shooting, near W. 44th Street and Seventh Avenue, all survived. A 31-year-old man was later arrested in Florida and charged.
The NYPD is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the following individual in connection to an assault which occurred within the confines of the Midtown South Precinct. The following has been reported to police:
