A COVID-19 outbreak hit the office’s Trial Bureau 40 after attending the holiday party, according to a New York Daily News report.

A letter was sent to staff Tuesday detailing the COVID issues, and has caused a “backlog” in the office, according to the report.

While some are dealing with mild COVID symptoms, others were asked to stay home in an “abundance of caution,” which caused the staffing shortage.

“We are instructing all bureaus, units and departments to cancel any on-site holiday or social gatherings through the end of the year,” a memo acquired by the Daily News said. “In addition, we are strongly discouraging all bureaus, units and departments from hosting off-site holiday parties.”

Sources told the outlet that the staffing issues weren’t hurting ongoing trials.

The DA's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
