Suspect spews anti-gay slurs, threatens men with hammer by Central Park: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two men were threatened by a hammer-wielding person who hurled anti-gay slurs at them outside Central Park, police said.

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force released surveillance video of a suspect Thursday as they investigate.

The two victims, ages 57 and 52, were walking at Fifth Avenue and E. 63rd Street on the Upper East Side on the morning of June 25 when the suspect approached them with a hammer around 2:30 a.m.

The suspect menaced the men with the hammer while making anti-gay remarks, police said.

The suspect was last seen fleeing into Central Park.

The men were not injured, according to police.
