NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police released video Wednesday showing the man wanted in a brazen slashing at a Wall Street subway station Tuesday morning.

Video shows the suspect jumping a subway turnstile at the South Ferry/Whitehall Street station shortly after the slashing at the 4/5 Wall Street station at Broadway just after 6 a.m.

Police said the suspect and a 43-year-old man got into an argument over seating on a northbound 4 train.

The suspect took out a box cutter during the dispute and slashed the victim across his face and neck, police said.

He then fled the station and continued southbound on foot down Broadway, eventually reentering the subway at the Whitehall Street station, according to police.

The victim was hospitalized and is expected to survive.

The slashing left a trail of blood from the stairs to the northbound platform that was clearly visible to straphangers passing the yellow police tape on their morning commute.

“This makes me not want to ride the train, like it makes me afraid of public transportation,” one woman said.

It’s been over a month since Mayor Eric Adams launched his subway safety plan, however transit crime is still up 65% year-to-date and nearly 30% in just the last month.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
