Nicki Minaj announces last-minute she’s bailing on Met Gala over vaccine requirement

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Rapper Nicki Minaj said she's skipping the swanky Met Gala Monday night over its requirement to show proof of vaccination against the coronavirus.

"They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research," Minaj tweeted Monday. "I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one."

The star-studded Met fundraiser returned Monday night after a coronavirus-induced hiatus. Under city guidelines, the gala is requiring guests to show proof of vaccination in order to attend. Facemasks are also going to be required indoors.
