Off-duty NJ cop charged with trying to strangle woman: report

DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey police officer has been arrested for allegedly trying to strangle a woman inside his apartment, according to a report.

Deptford Township police officer Myron Ford, 36, was arrested on Thursday after he was accused of “forcefully shoving” a woman and “placing his hands around [her] neck in [an] attempt to strangle” her, NJ.com reported, citing information from a criminal complaint.

The attack left the woman with small scratches to her arm and chin, according to the complaint.

Ford has been charged with second-degree aggravated assault and simple assault, the outlet reported.

His attorney information wasn’t immediately available Monday. It wasn’t immediately clear what his current employment status was, according to the outlet.
