FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey schools superintendent has been charged with sexually assaulting a family friend at his home last year, according to a report.

Fairfield Township Schools Superintendent Michael Knox, 51, was charged with second-degree sexual assault in connection with an incident that allegedly happened in October of last year, the Trentonian reported, citing information from a criminal complaint.
Knox is accused of sexually assaulting a woman he knew after she drove him home from a party, according to the outlet.
The sexual assault allegedly occurred “early in the morning of Oct. 4 while the victim slept on Knox’s living room couch,” the outlet reported.
Knox has been on “intermittent leave” from his post since April, according to the outlet.
School board president Michelle Kennedy did not respond to the outlet’s request for comment on the matter.
Knox’s attorney information wasn’t immediately available Wednesday.
