Maria Ambrocio, 58, of Bayonne, hit her head on the pavement on Friday afternoon when a 29-year-old mugger who had stolen a cell phone plowed into her on Broadway as he fled the robbery, police said.

Ambrocio was transported to NYC Health and Hospital/Bellevue, where she died on Saturday, police said.

The suspected mugger, Jermaine Foster, also of New Jersey, has been arrested and so far faces robbery and assault charges.

Ambrocio was a nurse at Bayonne Medical center and had just finished lunched around 1 p.m. when the mugger knocked her over outside of a pizzeria, CBS2 reported.

Ambrocio’s family and friends were on hand at Bellevue when she was taken off life support Saturday, according to the station.

“She was every friend that anybody wants to have. She was a very kind person. Extremely sincere, honest and loving,” Ambrocio’s close friend, Emilia Cruz, said.
