NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – There are no open criminal investigations of sexual harassment claims against Gov. Andrew Cuomo in New York City, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said Wednesday.
During an interview with PIX11, Shea said “there are not” any investigations into Cuomo after an independent investigation overseen by the state attorney general—which was civil, not criminal—found the governor sexually harassed 11 women. Cuomo has denied the allegations.
Asked if any police reports have been filed in the city, Shea added, “There have been none.”
“I mean we watched that news yesterday as everyone did,” the commissioner said. “I saw the attorney general’s remarks, but beyond that, that’s our involvement.”
State Attorney General Letitia James announced the findings of the investigation into Cuomo on Tuesday without referring the case to prosecutors for possible criminal charges, but she said local police and prosecutors could use the evidence and findings to build their own cases.
The district attorney in Albany said Tuesday he was requesting James’ investigative materials and encouraged victims to come forward.
