NYC public schools to replace snow days with remote learning

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York City public school students will still be required to attend classes virtually on what used to be snow days, the city’s education department said Tuesday.

The department broke the news as it released its calendar for the 2021-2022 school year.

“On ‘snow days’ or days when school buildings are closed due to an emergency, all students and families should plan on participating in remote learning,” the department said on its website.

Mayor Bill de Blasio in March vowed that public schools would be “fully open” for in-person learning this coming September.

“There will be five-day-a-week instruction for everyone, period,” he said. “Public school will be available for all, in person, in September. That’s the plan.”
