NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York City is looking for a new company to replace the Trump Organization as manager of Central Park’s Wollman Rink.
The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation recently issued a request for proposals for a new rink manager, following the city’s decision to terminate its contracts with the Trump Organization, the New York Post reported.
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the decision to sever ties with the organization in mid-January, in light of the siege at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
“Our legal team has done an assessment, and the contracts make very clear if a company and the leadership of that company is engaged in criminal activity, we have the right to sever the contract,” de Blasio said at the time.
A legal notice posted in The City Record said the department is searching for a company to carry out “operation and maintenance” of the ice rink, with proposals due March 12, the Post reported.
