The 23-year-old police volunteer had just dropped someone off on Independence Avenue near W. 239th Street around 4:30 a.m. when he was jumped by three men, officials said.

They demanded he surrender his ride, and he was shot in the leg during the ensuing struggle, according to authorities.

The thieves made off with his Kawasaki motorcycle, a bag and his cellphone.

Emergency responders rushed him to Saint Barnabas Hospital, and he was expected to survive.

NYPD auxiliary officers help with crowd control and logistical efforts, but can’t enforce the law or arrest anyone.
