NEW YORK (1010 WNS) -- NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea helped pull off an officer's surprise proposal Wednesday.

"When you think you’re going to the PC’s office to receive an award, but you leave with a diamond ring & calling your retired-sergeant-boyfriend — your “fiancée!” She said 𝒴𝑒𝓈! Join us in congratulating Shaundel & Henry — we’re wishing them both the very best!" Shea tweeted.
The NYPD officer identified as Shaundel was told she had been called into the commissioner’s office to receive a special award but got a surprise proposal instead.
Shea hands the officer a box, which is then opened by Shaundel who realized contains a ring inside. Shea directs her to turn around where her retired sergeant boyfriend, Harry, was behind her on one knee.
Shea jokes and said “hold on! We need an answer,” as the couple continues to embrace.
All three are then seen smiling as they pose for pictures.
