The incident started around 6:40 a.m. after cops got a call about someone stealing a catalytic converter from a car on Knapp Street near Avenue V in Sheepshead Bay.

Responding officers from the 61st Precinct attempted to stop a white Porsche sedan which fit the description from the crime scene but the driver led police onto the Belt Parkway, authorities said.

Other officers from the 60th Precinct blocked westbound traffic on the highway so they could corner the driver but the Porsche driver barreled toward the officers, weaving through traffic while hitting other vehicles, police said.

In the chaos, an officer fired a single shot and apparently hit the fleeing car’s tire, a police source told the Daily News.

The Porsche was abandoned with a flat tire on Cropsey Avenue where it was later found by police, a few blocks from Exit 4 on the highway.

No injuries occurred as a result of the incident but one officer was taken to a nearby hospital for observation. The investigation remains ongoing.
