NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD stripped several officers and supervisors of their guns and shields after they allegedly stole and drank while working at the Electric Zoo music festival last month on Randall's Island.

Sources told the Daily News that officers from the Manhattan North Narcotics unit, including three detectives, were placed on modified duty after the Labor Day weekend concert.

The cops were working at the Electric Zoo festival between Sept. 2 and Sept. 4 when at least one of them stole a bottle of alcohol and started handing it to his co-workers, a source told the outlet.

The investigation focused on three detectives from the Manhattan North Narcotics section, the source said, although a handful of other officers covering the concert were also involved, according to the report.

The department, which called the allegations "troubling," said in a statement that "on the day of the incident, upon being notified by event staff, an NYPD supervisor reported this incident to the Internal Affairs Bureau which immediately began an extensive and comprehensive investigation."

The bureau, which investigates corruption within the NYPD, is "working closely" with the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, the department added.

"Our work in this case is not done and we will continue to go where the facts take us," they continued. "All disciplinary outcomes will be available after the investigation is complete."
