NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The NYPD is searching for a gunman who they said opened fire on a 19-year-old in broad daylight on a busy Brooklyn street Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities said the 19-year-old victim was standing in the rear of 6 Metrotech Center in Downtown Brooklyn around 3 p.m. when an unidentified man approached and displayed a handgun.
The gunman fired multiple times in the direction of the teenager, striking him once in the upper left arm, police said.
Video from the scene showed multiple people fleeing the gunman, who was seen hiding behind a pillar in the middle of a pedestrian area.
The attacker fled the scene on foot immediately after striking the teen.
The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital by EMS in stable condition.
Authorities did not say if the victim knew his attacker, or if the two had any contact with one another prior to the shooting.
