
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating after a 74-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a motorcycle in Queens on Tuesday, authorities said.
Just after 5 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and 62nd Rodd in Rego Park, officials said.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 22-year-old man was riding a 2018 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on Woodhaven Boulevard when he struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross at the intersection of 62nd Road.
The pedestrian suffered severe trauma to the head and body from the collision, the NYPD said.
EMS transported the man whose name has not been released by police to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced dead.
The motorcycle driver remained on scene and was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst with minor injuries in stable condition.
An investigation remains ongoing.
