NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A gang member was arrested in the East Village on Thursday night after he waved a gun and responding police shot at him.

No one was hit in the gunfire around 8:15 p.m. at East 4th Street and Avenue C in Alphabet City.

The 20-year-old suspect—who is said to be a Down the Hill gang member with a long rap sheet—reportedly pulled a gun on his brother.

It’s unclear if he fired the weapon, but responding cops ended up shooting at him.

A resident said they heard several shots during the altercation.

Some officers were taken to a hospital for tinnitus.

A gun was recovered at the scene, police said, as the investigation continues.

The suspect’s past arrests include for robbery and gun possession.

The shooting happened a day after police exchanged fire with a robbery suspect in Upper Manhattan on Wednesday night. No one was hit in that shooting either.
