Person of interest in custody after man, 62, found dead in Bronx basement apartment

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is investigating after a man was found dead inside a basement apartment Tuesday night in the Bronx, authorities said.

At approximately 10:40 p.m., police responded to a 911 call inside of 130 West 169th St. in Highbridge.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 62-year-old man in a basement apartment, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to the head.

EMS responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Officials have not released the victim's name.

A 51-year-old person of interest was taken into custody from the vicinity of the incident location.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
