
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Officials took a person of interest into custody as they investigate the death of a man who was beaten with a metal object during an argument in the Bronx early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 5:50 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of an assault inside of 633 East 196th Street in Fordham Manor.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 57-year-old man with trauma to the neck, the NYPD said.
EMS transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation determined that the victim was engaged in a verbal dispute at the location when he was struck in the neck with a blunt metal object.
The metal object was recovered on the scene and a 51-year-old man was taken into custody as a person of interest, officials said.
Charges are pending at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
