NEW YORK (1010 WINS/ WCBS 880) -- Thousands of revelers turned out to celebrate at the Pride March in New York City on Sunday.
The city's gay pride parades started in 1970 to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall uprising, following a police raid on The Stonewall Inn.

Billy Porter, Yasmin Benoit, AC Dumlao, Hope Giselle and Randolfe “Randy” Wicker headed this year’s celebration, with Angelica Ross returning for a third year as co-host.

Gov. Kathy Hochul signed nation-leading legislation to protect and affirm the LGBTQ+ community at this year's New York City Pride March.
