NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Workers at a new city-run COVID-19 testing site in Manhattan were spotted without masks in recent days.

The testing site on W. 58th Street in Midtown has clear signage in English and Spanish indicating it is an NYC Health + Hospitals staff location.

A local resident told 1010 WINS he was set to get tested at the site when he noticed workers weren’t donning masks.

The lax COVID precautions have led to complaints in the neighborhood.

The maskless workers were spotted on three separate occasions over the past week, including last Thursday and this past Monday and Tuesday.

Photos taken on those three days show several staffers with either their mask below their face or with no mask at all.

It comes even as officials urge New Yorkers to mask up to help fight a surge in cases fueled by the omicron variant of the coronavirus.

In a statement to 1010 WINS, NYC Health + Hospitals said: "NYC operates over 200 testing sites every day that meet the safety standards set forth by CDC, NYS, and NYC. We have looked into this report, and taken the appropriate measures to ensure it is remediated."
