The pair of robberies happened about a block and 14 hours apart, police said as they released images Friday of the suspect.

The first robbery, on April 2, involved a 24-year-old woman who was approached by a man as she was walking on W. 15th Street, between Eighth and Seventh avenues, around 9:20 p.m.

Police said the man asked the woman for money, and when she told him she didn’t have any, he threatened, “If you don’t have any money, then I’m going to cut your face.”

The woman handed over $61 and the man fled towards Seventh Avenue.

The next morning, a 42-year-old man was riding a bicycle inside Dr. Gertrude B. Kelly Playground near W. 16th Street and Eighth Avenue at 11:30 a.m., when the man came up and told him to “empty your pockets.”

Police said the victim began to ride away when the thief slashed the back of his jacket with a knife.

The victim’s jacket was cut open and he suffered a scratch. Police said none of his property was taken.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
