The Middle Village man, 32-year-old Christopher Picone, started contacting people on social media and by calling around in December, offering his services as a snow remover, authorities said.

Picone was able to swindle at least 15 people out of advance payments for the snow removal, but when the time came for the job to be done, he never showed up, officials said.

Customers tried to contact Picone to clear snow from their driveways once snow accumulated but he disconnected his phone, police said.

Picone was eventually arrested in Queens and charged with two counts of scheme to defraud and grand larceny.
